Match the cost period to the distance
Cost per kilometre is useful only when the numerator and distance describe the same trip or period. Keep route fees with that route and ownership expenses with the longer vehicle history.

Route cost and ownership cost are not the same
For one route, add fuel or energy and any trip-specific fees, then divide by the distance. For ownership decisions, use a longer vehicle history that also includes service and other recurring costs.
